Animal Party Criticizes Government for Failures in Animal Protection

The Animal Party has strongly criticized the government, accusing it of failures in animal protection. During a meeting with the President of the Cyprus Animal Welfare Society, Toulla Poyiatzi, the President of the party, Kyriakos Kyriakos, emphasized that the changes made so far are only superficial and have not yielded positive results. Instead, an increase in animal abuse, abandonment, and failure to create regional shelters were highlighted, as well as a lack of effective action from the Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Welfare. The two Presidents also discussed the possibility of cooperation to raise awareness of animal welfare issues in view of the 2026 parliamentary elections and Cyprus' Presidency of the Council of the EU.
