The General Secretary of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, stated that the war must end as soon as possible, reiterating the party's position on ending the presence of British bases in Cyprus. Speaking to workers at the Nicosia General Hospital, he expressed concern about the consequences of the war, such as destruction, loss of innocent lives, and impacts on tourism and oil prices. He called on the Government to begin planning to address these consequences, emphasizing that the economic burdens will primarily fall on ordinary people. He also highlighted the importance of public health and the need for universal access to quality healthcare.
