AHK Workers Stage Two-Hour Warning Strike

Workers at the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (AHK) staged a two-hour warning strike today (February 27th) through the trade unions EPOPAH, SIDIKEK, SEPAHK and SIVAHK, protesting the current state of the AHK and the policies affecting it. Workers cite electricity shortages, rising costs, disconnection of photovoltaic systems and water shortages, which they attribute to erratic policies and a lack of strategic planning. They believe that the AHK is being undermined and is becoming powerless against rising energy costs. They also mention the existence of pending labor issues that hinder the operation of the Organization. In their announcement, they express their determination to fight to protect the AHK, believing that this will safeguard the interests of the country, the economy and consumers. The Independent Trade Union of Technical and Labor Personnel of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (ASTEPAHK) expressed its disagreement with the decision for the warning strike. Due to the strike, AHK Customer Service Centers and Offices remained closed from 07:45 to 10:00.
