Administrative Inefficiency Forces European Writers’ Council to Move Conference from Cyprus

The Cyprus Writers’ Union (ELK) announced that the 2026 Annual General Assembly of the European Writers’ Council (EWC) will take place in Brussels, rather than in Larnaca, due to administrative delays on the part of the Deputy Ministry of Culture. The ELK submitted a funding application in a timely manner but did not receive a response, making it impossible to organize the event in Cyprus. The ELK denounces a general administrative dysfunction in the field of culture, pointing out delays and lack of coordination, resulting in Cyprus losing a significant opportunity for cultural promotion.
