ACTTA: Prolonged Tension Could Severely Impact Cyprus Tourism

The President of the Cyprus Association of Travel Agents (ACTTA), Charis Papacharalambous, expressed concern about the potential impact of the ongoing tension in the region on Cyprus's tourism industry. He emphasized the need for restraint in statements and avoiding panic, as Cyprus has already been affected by cancellations, particularly for the near future. If the situation persists and Cyprus remains on the map of dangerous destinations, the consequences will be severe. However, it is observed that cancellations for the summer are fewer, and Cyprus primarily relies on tourism from Europe and the United Kingdom, with less dependence on the Middle East. Mr. Papacharalambous expressed optimism for a quick recovery of tourism once the situation calms down, but warned that a prolongation of the tension will have negative consequences.
