ABC: Iran May Be Setting Up Terrorist Cells Internationally - Messages Found

The US has intercepted encrypted communications believed to originate from Iran, which may serve as an “operational green light” for dormant terrorist cells outside the country. The warning, reviewed by ABC News, concerns a transmission broadcast to multiple countries following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The transmission was encoded and appeared intended for “covert recipients” with the decryption key, suggesting instructions for secret operational units. The warning states that the transmissions may be intended to activate or provide guidance to already positioned “sleeper” agents outside of Iran. Although the content of the transmissions is not yet known, the emergence of a new radio center with international broadcasting justifies increased vigilance. Security authorities have been instructed to intensify monitoring of suspicious radio frequencies. This warning confirms fears expressed by security officials that dormant cells deployed in the West could be used for retaliation following the US-Israeli attack on Iran. In Greece, the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, called for vigilance and alertness, emphasizing the need for protective measures for sensitive targets and border control. The minister warned that terrorist attacks are more likely to occur during periods of calm and stressed the importance of European cooperation and horizontal security measures. This warning highlights increased geopolitical tensions and the need for enhanced security internationally.
