Optimistic Outlook for Water Inflow in Cyprus Until End of March

The Water Development Department (WDD) expresses optimism regarding good water inflow to dams until the end of March, as forecasts predict rainfall. Senior Technical Engineer Marios Chatzikostis stated that the inflow of the last three days amounts to 2 million cubic meters of water, an increase compared to previous days. It is estimated that last year's low reserves will be exceeded, something that initially seemed difficult due to the very low inflows in October, November, and December. The current dam capacity is 21.8%, or 63.3 million cubic meters, while last year at the same time it was 25.1% (72.9 million). The situation is particularly improved in the province of Nicosia and in certain replenishing dams, such as Tamassos, Klerou, and Solia, while dams with irrigation projects also show significant improvement compared to last year. Overall, the situation appears to be better than last year, suggesting a better water supply for both domestic and irrigation purposes.
