8-Year-Old Rescued After Being Held in Isolation in Turkey for Seven Years

An eight-year-old boy, N.S., was rescued from an isolated house in Bursa, Turkey, where he had allegedly been held for seven years. After a police operation, the child met his mother for the first time, who traveled from Germany. His father, Umut K., had taken the child away from his mother, Rebekah S., years ago and has since passed away. The investigation is being conducted by the Prosecutor's Office of Mustafa Kemal Pasha. According to information, the child lived in isolation and had limited contact with the outside world, mainly through electronic devices. The child is under the protection of the Bursa Provincial Directorate of Social Services and is receiving psychological support. The child's mother traveled from Germany and met her son at the social services facilities, in the presence of a lawyer and representatives of the German consulate. The first meeting was reserved, as the child is said to have been hesitant. The authorities plan to conduct DNA tests to confirm the kinship. If the results of the DNA tests confirm the kinship, a process of gradual meetings will follow before a court decision is made regarding the custody of the child. This case highlights the serious consequences of child neglect and isolation.
