65,000 Cattle Vaccinated in the Occupied Territories Against Foot-and-Mouth Disease

The first dose of vaccination has been completed for approximately 65,000 cattle in the occupied territories, as part of efforts to contain foot-and-mouth disease. The Turkish Cypriot 'veterinarians' association' announced that the process was completed by 30 teams and the second dose will be administered in 21-30 days. Measures decided by the authorities are mandatory, with warnings of legal penalties for non-compliance. The immediate vaccination of sheep and goats is also emphasized to prevent the spread of the virus. The 'association of veterinarians' also reports poor implementation of measures by 'local authorities' and expresses concern about the import of agricultural equipment from Turkey, where the disease is on the rise. They are calling for strict controls at entry points and considering restrictions on commercial activities.
