6.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Western Japan, No Tsunami Warning

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck western Japan today, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). The earthquake was recorded at 10:18 local time (03:18 Cyprus time) in Shimane Prefecture. Fortunately, the JMA did not issue a tsunami warning. A second, smaller earthquake of magnitude 5.1 followed shortly after.
