Limassol Municipality Focuses on Daily Life and Essential Projects for 2026

The Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, presented the priorities of Cyprus during the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Finance (ECOFIN). The top priority is improving the quality of life for the residents of Limassol, with an emphasis on daily life and the implementation of essential projects. Regarding traffic, more one-way streets are being promoted and the expansion of the WeeDrive program, while funding for road resurfacing and pedestrian restoration is increasing significantly. In addition, expropriations for the creation of new parking spaces are continuing. In the area of cleanliness, 14,000 tons of waste were collected in 2025 and the cleaning fleet was strengthened with modern vehicles. The implementation of more drastic cleaning interventions in specific areas is planned. Increasing green spaces remains a priority, with the redesign of 25 parks and the upgrade of existing areas. At the same time, significant projects such as the renovation of the Heroes' Square and the construction of the Northern Bypass are progressing, with efforts being made to exert pressure for their rapid implementation. The Minister mentioned that directions are expected from the extraordinary Summit on Thursday regarding the preferred tools to react to US tariffs.
