2025: Second Warmest Year for Greece Since 1890

2025 recorded the second highest average temperature in Greece since 1890, according to an analysis by climatebook. The average temperature was higher than normal levels for 72% of the days of the year, with 262 days recording positive temperature deviations. 2025 was also one of the warmest years globally and in Europe, confirming the trend of rising temperatures. Specifically, record temperatures were recorded in March, the summer was the third warmest on record, and unusually low temperatures occurred in April and October. Six of the seven warmest years in Greece have been recorded in the last seven years, with the three warmest being the last three years, indicating an acceleration of warming.
