1st Cyprus Transport Hackathon to Tackle Urban Mobility Challenges

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works is organizing the 1st Cyprus Transport Hackathon on January 17, 2026, at the Strovolos Municipal Hall. The hackathon aims to develop innovative solutions for modern urban mobility challenges, focusing on four key areas: smart public transport, multimodal transport, road safety, and inclusive mobility. Teams of up to five people from various disciplines, such as students, developers, and professionals, can participate. Participation is free, and teams will receive support from experienced mentors and networking opportunities with industry experts. The judging panel, comprised of representatives from the co-organizers, will award cash prizes to the top three teams. Additionally, the most promising ideas will be considered for pilot implementation in collaboration with the Ministry, Municipalities, and Universities. The event is part of a strategy for open and collaborative innovation in the transport sector and seeks to leverage the creativity of the new generation and professionals to improve mobility in Cyprus. The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2026.
