13th Flu Death in Cyprus, Including a 54-Year-Old

The number of flu-related deaths in Cyprus has risen to 13, with the latest victim being a 54-year-old man who was hospitalized in a private clinic. Dr. Elisavet Konstantinou, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health, noted that the death of the 54-year-old is an exception, as most victims are elderly individuals with underlying health conditions. The epidemic appears to have reached its peak and is showing a slight decline, with a reduction in cases and hospitalizations. The healthcare system is under pressure, but the situation is manageable, and there is an adequate supply of antiviral drugs and diagnostic tests. The final cause of death will be confirmed upon registration of the data in the WHO's global system.
