13 Flu Deaths in Cyprus, a 54-Year-Old Among the Victims

The number of flu-related deaths in Cyprus has risen to 13 since the start of the current epidemic season, following the death of a 54-year-old in a private hospital. Dr. Elisavet Konstantinou, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health, stated that this death is an exception, as most victims are elderly individuals over 80 years of age with underlying health conditions. The epidemic appears to have reached its peak and is beginning to subside, with a decrease in cases and hospitalizations. The healthcare system is under pressure, but the situation is manageable, and there is sufficient supply of antiviral drugs and diagnostic tests. Over 145,000 flu vaccinations have been administered. The final cause of death will be confirmed after the complete registration of data in the World Health Organization's system.
