Cyprus Talks: President Christodoulides Proposes 5-Point Plan for Restarting Negotiations and Confidence-Building Measures

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, held a trilateral meeting with Olguin and Erhurman regarding the Cyprus issue. President Christodoulides proposed a 5-point package for restarting negotiations and implementing Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs). He argued that the 4 points of Erhurman's methodology have already been answered and that the convergences achieved cover 70-80% of the Cyprus issue. He reiterated his rejection of predetermined consequences and emphasized that political equality has already been agreed upon. The UN Special Envoy, Maria Angela Olguin, stated that today's meeting focused on Erhurman's methodology and that progress is necessary for convening a new multilateral conference.
