30% of Kyiv Schools Without Heating After Russian Strikes

Following recent Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy grid, approximately 30% of schools in Kyiv are without heating. City authorities have announced that they will merge schools to ensure the continuation of education for approximately 110,000 students, many of whom are already attending classes remotely. The attacks, which are taking place during a particularly cold winter with temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius, have caused widespread disruptions to electricity, water, and heating supplies. Kyiv, with a population of around 3 million, relies on three major power plants, which have been repeatedly damaged by Russian strikes. The situation worsened after new Russian strikes on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, leaving thousands of buildings in the capital without heating.
