Building, But Selling? The Role of KΟΑΓ in Cyprus' Housing Market

The Cyprus Land Development Organization (KLDO) has significantly increased its activity in the real estate market in recent years, contributing to the increase in housing supply. By 2026, 247 residential units are expected to be delivered, while KLDO is participating in the construction of 500 residential units announced by the President. Affordable rental projects are also underway, with the creation of apartments in Limassol and Strovolos. However, the question arises whether the built properties will be affordable for the people who need them, as many do not have the required amount for a down payment or loan security. Collaboration with banks is considered essential to ensure that affordable housing plans ultimately benefit the people for whom they are intended.
