Former Bishop of Paphos Tychikos' Indefinite Suspension Deemed Normal

The Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus has decided to indefinitely suspend former Bishop of Paphos Tychikos, following the latter's appeal to the courts against the Synod's initial decision. The Spokesman of the Archbishopric of Cyprus, Christakis Eustathiou, described the decision as normal, given the legal involvement. The Synod requests that Mr. Tychikos submit a Confession of Faith in order to return to his duties. Mr. Eustathiou estimates that the matter is essentially closed and the next move depends on the former Bishop himself. Simultaneously, the Holy Synod will discuss constitutional changes and complaints regarding the monks of the Avakoum Monastery at a new meeting.
