Golden Dawn: Wife of Nikos Michaloliakos Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

The second-instance trial of Golden Dawn has concluded with sentences handed down to four convicted individuals who were not detained during the proceedings. Eleni Zaroulia, wife of Nikos Michaloliakos, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for membership in a criminal organization, while Giorgos Dimou and Georgios Skalkos received 7 years for complicity in the murder of Pavlos Fyssas and membership in the organization. Konstantinos Papadopoulos was also sentenced to 7 years for attempted murder against Egyptian fishermen and membership in the organization. A total of 24 out of the 42 defendants have already served their sentences and have been released on parole. For 11 convicted individuals, the court reduced the sentences or converted them into fines. Giorgos Roupakias, the murderer of Pavlos Fyssas, and former MPs Ilias Kasidiaris and Ioannis Lagos remain in prison. The sentences for 32 defendants remained the same as in the first instance, while reduced sentences were imposed on ten defendants, including Eleni Zaroulia. Eleni Zaroulia is the only one who received a reduced sentence without any mitigating circumstances being recognized. This decision marks the end of a long legal battle regarding Golden Dawn and its criminal activities.
