Christodoulides and Erhurman Continue Talks with UN Envoy

President Christodoulides, following the meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Erhurman and UN envoy Maria Angela Olgina, stated that discussions will continue and that he submitted a specific proposal concerning both the substance of the Cyprus issue and confidence-building measures. The proposal includes reaffirming the basis for a solution (political equality and UN resolutions), preparing a document outlining convergences up to Cran Montana, formally announcing the resumption of talks at an expanded conference, and opening four roadblocks (Kokkina, Louroutzina, Mia Milia, Athienou-Aglandjia). He also expressed readiness to announce additional unilateral measures in favor of Turkish Cypriots. Olgina, for her part, mentioned that the two leaders shared their proposals and will continue efforts to reach agreement on confidence-building measures and the start of substantive negotiations, but an expanded meeting is not currently planned.
