President Christodoulides Considers Abolishing Support Scheme Amidst Controversy

President Nikos Christodoulides stated that his first thought is the complete abolition of the Support Scheme, following the reactions caused by a recent video. His wife, Philippa Karsera Christodoulides, has already announced her resignation from the Scheme and other charitable organizations. The President mentioned that transferring the Scheme's funds to the State Scholarship Foundation is being considered, but warned of potential backlash. He also stated that a way will be found to continue supporting disadvantaged students and that he is ready to disclose the names of donors, if legally required. The Government Spokesman initially stated that the issue of abolition was not on the table, but later announced that the Scheme's Administrative Committee would discuss the matter.
