Nine Arrested in Police Operations Across Cyprus

The Cyprus Police conducted targeted preventative operations overnight, with an increased presence in urban areas, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals for various offenses. The operations focused on preventing serious criminal activity, protecting citizens, and maintaining public order. In Nicosia, two individuals were arrested, one for illegal stay and one for outstanding fines. In Limassol, two people were arrested for domestic violence cases. In Paphos, two individuals were arrested for assault causing bodily harm, one for illegal stay, one for illegal employment, and one for possession of a small amount of drugs. During the checks, over 220 vehicles were stopped and more than 290 people were inspected. Simultaneously, 20 premises were checked, aiming to prevent and suppress illegal behavior. Traffic checks resulted in 92 reports for various traffic violations, while one positive report emerged from 80 alcohol tests. Additionally, three vehicles were impounded as part of the investigation of traffic offenses. These operations are part of a broader, ongoing and enhanced preventative plan of the Police, with increased police presence, targeted checks and immediate action in all provinces, in order to prevent crime and enhance the sense of security of citizens.
