Winter Olympics 2026: Kougioumtzian Finishes 64th in Downhill

Yiannos Kougioumtzian finished 64th in the Downhill event of the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, completing both runs at the Stelvio Ski Centre with a total time of 2.52.11. In a challenging race with the participation of 81 athletes, 69 managed to complete both downhills. Kougioumtzian competed with concentration and stability, recording a time of 1.29.14 in the first downhill and facing more difficult weather conditions in the second. He expressed satisfaction with finishing both runs and is now focusing on Monday's Slalom event. This performance marks an important moment for Cypriot Alpine Skiing, confirming Kougioumtzian's continuous development. He was supported by the Secretary-General of the Cyprus Olympic Committee, the Secretary of the Athletes' Committee and the coaching staff. Andrea Loizidou will represent Cyprus in the Women's Slalom on Wednesday, completing the Cyprus Olympic Committee's participation in the Alpine Skiing program. The Cyprus Olympic Committee extends its warm congratulations to Kougioumtzian for his performance.
