Hatzipantela: GSI is a Strategic European Project, Must Be Completed

The increasing geopolitical and economic role of the Eastern Mediterranean in the European energy system, as well as the ongoing delays in the implementation of critical projects, were highlighted at an event held at the European Parliament, initiated by MEP Michalis Hatzipantela, in collaboration with the Wilfried Martens Centre, and brought together politicians, institutions, and representatives of the energy industry. The discussion underscored the strategic importance of the Gas Interconnector Greece-Italy (GSI) for Europe's energy security, emphasizing the need for its completion. Hatzipantela stressed that Europe must utilize its own energy resources and reduce its dependence on imports from third countries, noting the high cost of the energy market, estimated at €400 billion.
