Chania: 17-Year-Old Reports Gang Rape by 5 Men

Ten people are expected to appear before the Chania Prosecutor tomorrow, Monday, in connection with the case of a 17-year-old girl's rape. The incident occurred on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, when two 17-year-old girls, one Bulgarian and one Greek, left a female shelter run by the local church. They were found in a tourist accommodation and then in a house, accompanied by a group of seven young men. The 17-year-old Greek girl reported that she was raped by five people, while the Bulgarian girl stated that, after using Indian hemp, she consented to sexual intercourse with one of them. The Bulgarian girl was arrested for drug use. The alleged perpetrators of the rape are two Bulgarians (aged 15 and 18), a 17-year-old Greek (who was filming), and two Greeks (aged 21 and 27). In addition, a 21-year-old Greek was arrested for indecent acts and expressions, but not for rape. Along with the alleged perpetrators, three guardians were also arrested: two Bulgarian women (aged 47 and 46) and one Albanian woman (aged 59) for negligence in supervising minors. The case is ongoing and more details are expected to be revealed during the suspects’ testimony.
