Switzerland to Pay $56,000 to Victims of Deadly Cran-Montana Fire

The Swiss government announced it will pay $56,000 to each victim or seriously injured person from the deadly fire that broke out in a bar at the Cran-Montana ski resort on New Year's Day. This move is a “contribution of solidarity” aimed at providing immediate financial support to those affected. The fire, likely caused by fireworks igniting the bar's soundproofing material, resulted in 41 deaths and 115 injuries. Among the victims and injured were many teenagers, as well as foreigners from France and Italy. Swiss authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the tragedy, while the government seeks to provide immediate assistance to the families of the victims and the injured. This compensation represents a significant show of support from the state to those affected.
