Pheidas Panagiotou Dismisses Allegations of Misappropriation of European Funds

MEP Pheidas Panagiotou responded to reports linking him to a European Public Prosecutor's Office (OLAF) investigation regarding European funds, describing them as “unsubstantiated allegations with electoral motives”. He stated that he operates with complete transparency and thanked the whistleblower, as it gave him the opportunity to prove his integrity. Regarding accusations of covering his housing rent with European funds, he clarified that the rent for his apartment is covered by his own funds, while the rent for his office, which is also used for podcast production, is partially covered by the European Parliament. Concerning the “Agora” application, he stated that expenses related to his work as an MEP are covered by the Parliament, while he personally pays for his party within the application. Finally, he denied allegations of receiving money from his associates, explaining that he temporarily covers expenses due to bureaucratic delays in payments.
