Nicolaou Case: 'My Life is Threatened' Says Matsas - Continuation on March 19th

The judicial process regarding the private criminal prosecutions of the Nicolaou family continued with the examination of preliminary objections. Lawyer Savvas Matsas, who withdrew from defending the family due to his intention to testify as a witness, requested to reveal the second reason for his withdrawal. The defense reacted, requesting his removal and arguing that he can testify when called as a witness. Mr. Matsas presented a police document reporting threats to his life, which provoked reactions from the defense, which accused Mr. Matsas of attempting to deceive the court and requested an investigation for contempt. The new lawyer for the Nicolaou family expressed the view that the defendants should first be charged and respond before the preliminary objections are raised. Due to the lengthy process, the case was adjourned to March 19th.
