Minister of Education: 'Career' Action Contributes to Young People's Familiarity with the Labor Market

The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athena Michaelidou, emphasized the importance of the 'Career' action in informing young people about the professions in the Cypriot labor market. The action, organized by the Counseling and Career Guidance Service (Υ.Σ.Ε.Α.) in collaboration with the Pan-Cypriot Confederation of Parent Associations and supported by the Bank of Cyprus, aims to build a bridge between school and work, helping students discover their inclinations and interests. The Minister reiterated the need for objective information for educational and professional choices, while praising the work of the Υ.Σ.Ε.Α. for supporting students in personal, educational and professional matters. 'Career 2026' will take place on January 24th at the Polemidia Lyceum in Limassol, with the participation of representatives from over 50 Professional Associations/Bodies. These bodies will provide information about their professions through information stations and presentations. The Minister expressed her gratitude to all collaborating bodies for their support. In addition, the reintroduction of the Work Week institution for students in the second year of Lyceum was announced, aiming to strengthen the connection between the education system and the labor market. This action, combined with 'Career', seeks to provide students with a comprehensive picture of the professional opportunities available in Cyprus. The Minister of Education stressed that the successful implementation of these actions requires the cooperation of all stakeholders, including schools, families, professional associations and the OAY. This commitment is essential for preparing young people for the challenges of the modern labor market and ensuring a better future for Cyprus.
