Agriculture Minister Assures Plan in Place to Tackle Foot-and-Mouth Disease

The Minister stressed that the Government is treating the situation with seriousness and full awareness of the importance of the primary sector for the economy and society. The Minister assured that coordination is taking place with the European Union and third countries to ensure the smooth export of halloumi. She also stated that the experts who arrived in Cyprus assured that even after vaccination, the consumption of meat and dairy products is safe. The Minister responded to allegations of inaction, emphasizing that the Veterinary Services follow a specific regulation and that procedures are being followed correctly. She reiterated that communication with agricultural organizations is continuous and direct, so that every issue is addressed promptly and effectively. The Minister assured that “No one is left alone. No sector is left exposed,” emphasizing the Government’s commitment to support people in the primary sector.
