Tychikos Files Appeal to Ecumenical Patriarchate - Denies Acting on Prompting

Former Metropolitan of Paphos, Tychikos, has filed an Ecclesiastical Appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, challenging the decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus for his indefinite suspension. Tychikos argues that the process followed for this decision violates canon law and fundamental principles of justice. The filing of the appeal has a suspensory effect, meaning the penalty of suspension has not been implemented. Tychikos categorically denies acting on prompting from others or other Churches, such as the Church of Greece. He emphasizes that he desires a institutional and impartial examination of the process, in order to ensure justice and the unity of the Church. He reserves the right to take legal action against any defamatory or slanderous claims against him.
