Bank of Cyprus: Warning about Fake Profiles and Investment Scams on Social Media

The Bank of Cyprus is warning the public about the appearance of fake profiles on social media, specifically on Threads, which illegally use the name and photo of its CEO, Panikos Nikolaou. These profiles promote false investment advice or opportunities, with the aim of deceiving the public. The Bank emphasizes that the CEO does not provide investment advice through social networks and that the Bank never requests personal data, passwords, or sums of money through them. Any such communication or post is considered false and misleading. The Bank urges the public to be particularly careful, to ignore and not interact with suspicious profiles, to not make financial transactions, and to not share personal details. Additionally, it recommends immediately reporting fake profiles to social media platforms and verifying any information through the Bank's official channels. The Bank of Cyprus has already informed the relevant platforms and stresses that protecting customers and the public from fraud is a top priority.
