AI Stock Selloff Wipes Out Five Billionaires – Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Huang and Dell Lose Billions in One Day

Five of the world's richest people – Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Jensen Huang and Michael Dell – suffered significant losses in their wealth on Thursday, due to a massive selloff in artificial intelligence stocks. In total, their wealth decreased by $26 billion. The decline is due to the decrease in the value of the shares of their companies: Tesla, Meta, Amazon, Nvidia and Dell. Investors are concerned about the high cost of building artificial intelligence infrastructure and the uncertainty about the return on investment. Dell's stock recorded the largest drop (-9%), due to a warning from Lenovo about rising costs due to a chip memory shortage. This raised concerns about declining profits for other manufacturers as well. Elon Musk suffered the largest loss ($8 billion), however, he still has $57 billion in profits this year, due to the increasing value of SpaceX and xAI. Mark Zuckerberg lost $7 billion, Jeff Bezos $4 billion and Jensen Huang $2.5 billion. Other technology company executives, such as the founders of Alphabet, also suffered losses, while Walmart's stock rose.
