George Lanthimos' Photographic Universe Revealed in Greece

George Lanthimos presents a rare aspect of his artistic creation: photography. A large exhibition of 182 photographs by the director is hosted at the Onassis Foundation, revealing his passion for the static image. Lanthimos states that photography offers him freedom and a different outlet compared to cinema, while appreciating the immediacy of the creation process, from shooting to developing and printing. The exhibition is divided into four sections, with the first three focusing on the spaces and characters of his films, and the fourth presenting a new series of black and white photographs taken in Greece, during solitary walks in Athens and on islands. In these photographs, Lanthimos focuses on the everyday and the commonplace, utilizing photography's ability for abstraction and transformation.
