Mandatory Disclosure of Large Donations to the First Lady's Fund Proposed

The Democratic Rally (DISY) has submitted a bill proposing the mandatory disclosure of donations exceeding €5,000 to the Fund associated with the First Lady, Philippa Karsera-Christodoulidou. This move comes in response to concerns about the transparency and accountability of the Fund, which have intensified following the release of a video referencing donations within the framework of Corporate Social Responsibility. DISY MP Rita Supermann emphasized that the Fund's purpose – supporting students – is important, but cannot justify a lack of transparency. She also stated that the Auditor General's report confirms concerns about the Fund's operation without a clear institutional framework and substantial oversight. The bill aims for full transparency and accountability of the Fund, requiring the disclosure of all donations exceeding €5,000. DISY calls on the Government to provide immediate and clear answers regarding the Fund's operation and the donations it has received. The DISY bill represents an effort to address the concerns that have arisen regarding the transparency and accountability of the Fund, ensuring that support for students is provided in a manner that inspires confidence and does not create shadows.
