Haunted Venetian Palace Listed for €17 Million

The historic Ca’ Dario palace in Venice, renowned for its architectural beauty and reputation as a 'haunted' building, has been put up for sale for €17,024,900. Dating back to the late 15th century, the palace has hosted prominent figures from the aristocracy, commerce, and arts, including Claude Monet, who painted it in 1908. However, its history is marred by deaths, suicides, and accidents, creating a negative reputation and hindering its sale. The palace's notoriety as 'cursed' stems from a series of tragic events that have befallen its owners and visitors. One of the most well-known deaths was the murder of Count Filippo Giordano delle Lanze in 1970. Even Kit Lambert, manager of The Who, who purchased the property in 1971, reportedly avoided sleeping in the palace due to ghost rumors. Despite the challenges, the palace has been renovated, and its sale has received a new boost from Christie’s and Engel & Völkers. The brokers describe it as an 'architectural gem' with Gothic arches and luxurious details, also highlighting its quiet location. However, local traditions and stories about the palace's curse remain strong. Locals believe that the tragic history of the palace affects the lives of those who inhabit it, and its reputation continues to deter potential buyers.
