Iran's 'Tiny' Kharg Island and Its Strategic Importance

Kharg Island, a tiny island in the Persian Gulf, is Iran's central oil export point and its most vulnerable economic target. Despite attacks from the US, the island's oil infrastructure remains intact, although oil prices have risen due to the disruption of tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. The island hosts 55 crude oil storage tanks with a capacity of over 34 million barrels and continuously loads tankers. There has been interest from the White House in the island, with reports of a possible takeover.
