The Occupied Regime and the Grocery Store of Kyrenia

The historic grocery store in the occupied town of Kyrenia, built in 1878 as a town hall and functioning as a market until 1974, is to be converted by the Turks into a “gastronomic center”. The building continued to function as a market after the Turkish invasion until 1990. The decision has been “granted” to women's organizations to be utilized as a multi-purpose space that will showcase Turkish Cypriot culture and cuisine, as well as contribute to the tourist and economic development of the area. The occupied municipality of Kyrenia is monitoring the issue.
