Iran Targets Gulf Monarchies in Response to US and Israel

Iran carried out strikes against several Gulf countries on Saturday, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain, in retaliation for a presumed attack by Israel and the US. The attack in Dubai caused a fire at a construction site and a hotel, while in Abu Dhabi, two people were killed and several others injured by missile interceptions. The UAE Ministry of Defense announced it had intercepted 137 missiles and 209 drones, warning of potential escalation. Similar bombings occurred in Kuwait, resulting in 12 injuries. However, Oman remained unharmed, as it was mediating between Iran and the US. Iranian authorities had warned they would respond to any attack against them, raising fears of a wider regional conflict. The situation remains tense, with Gulf countries preparing for potential further escalation. The attack came after negotiations between Iran and the US, which were repeated in February, seeking to restore the nuclear deal. However, the escalation of attacks undermines these efforts and creates precarious conditions in the region.
