Tourist Sues Fast Food Chain Over 'Too Spicy' Sauce

A German tourist, Faiqal Manz, sued a fast-food chain in New York City, claiming he suffered physical and emotional harm from an overly spicy sauce. Manz filed a lawsuit for $100,000, arguing that the sauce caused a burning sensation in his tongue, increased heart rate, mouth sores, and gastrointestinal discomfort. The court dismissed the lawsuit, noting that spicy flavor is expected in Mexican food and that a simple online search could have warned the tourist. The company's legal team argued that Manz's discomfort was due to his own negligence, as the sauce was labeled 'medium' in intensity. Simultaneously, Manz had filed other lawsuits against Walmart and the New York Police Department, which were also dismissed. The lawsuit against Walmart concerned the inability to connect to Wi-Fi with a German phone number, while the lawsuit against the police concerned the refusal to record a report of an assault.
