Pittokopitis: Paphos EOA on Alert for Extreme Weather

The Paphos Provincial Self-Governing Authority (EOA) remains on alert for potential extreme weather events, taking into account warnings from the Meteorological Service. EOA President Charalambos Pittokopitis emphasized the ongoing cooperation with the Fire Service and Local Authorities to take timely preventive measures. EOA services and crews are closely monitoring data and are ready to intervene to minimize the consequences of potential floods. The organization has special standby crews and equipment to deal with and repair damage. Inspections and cleaning have already been carried out in critical areas, such as grates, manholes, and ditches, to ensure smooth drainage of rainwater. The EOA calls on citizens to check the manholes and gutters of their homes and to limit their movements in the event of heavy rainfall. Mr. Pittokopitis stressed the importance of prevention, strengthening infrastructure, and protecting citizens. The EOA is working closely with all relevant authorities to ensure the smooth handling of the effects of heavy rainfall during the winter period.
