Clergy Respond to Claims of Visiting Livestock Farm – “Targeting”

The Metropolis of GOC (Genuine Orthodox Christians – Old Calendarists) issued a statement regarding the visit of priests to a livestock farm for a blessing, responding to reports that presented a different picture. The statement clarifies that the blessing took place at only one farm and that all necessary health and veterinary protocols were followed. The Metropolis emphasizes that it does not seek publicity and that the previous announcement was clear and accurate. The incident is being investigated by the Police, as it was previously reported that the priests performed a blessing inside livestock farms. The Metropolis points out that the Church stands by the side of farmers and their families, calling on the people to pray and provide practical support. The statement mentions that during the visit, checks were carried out by the competent state services and double disinfection was performed upon entry and exit from the farm, in full compliance with the instructions of the authorities. The Metropolis reiterates that it respects the rules and that its presence aimed to provide spiritual support to the farmers. Finally, the Metropolis reiterates its appeal to the competent state bodies to substantially and effectively support the farmers, supporting their requests. The announcement concludes by emphasizing that the Church stands by the suffering people and it is unacceptable to be targeted for its pastoral presence and ministry.
