Tragedy in Trikala: Three Mothers Among the Victims of Factory Explosion

Five female workers have lost their lives in the fatal explosion and fire that occurred at a biscuit factory in Trikala. The first identified victims are 42-year-old Vasiliki Skampardoni, 56-year-old Voula Boukouvala, 45-year-old Elena Katsarou and Stavroula. All were mothers. The explosion occurred in the basement of the factory and was followed by a large fire. Vasiliki Skampardoni was a mother of two and well-known in the local community. Voula Boukouvala was a mother of three and was identified through genetic material. Elena Katsarou, mother of a 13-year-old, was from the village of Glino. The fire broke out in the early hours of Monday and destroyed part of the factory. The bodies of the women were found close to each other in the basement. Searches continue for a possible fifth body.
