Mountains Warming Faster Than Expected, Threatening Water Resources

A new international scientific review reveals that the planet's mountains are warming faster than previously predicted, with serious consequences for over a billion people. Climate change is turning snow into rain, destabilizing water resources and increasing the risks of floods, ecological collapse, and water scarcity. The phenomenon of 'Elevation-Dependent Climate Change' (EDCC) explains this acceleration of warming at higher altitudes. The study, based on data from global climate databases and detailed case studies from major mountain regions (Rocky Mountains, Alps, Andes, Tibetan Plateau), demonstrates that temperatures in the mountains are increasing by an average of 0.21°C per century faster than in lower areas.
