Four Startups Join Space BIC Cyprus

Four startups – Periopsis, SatelliteLegal AI, Orizontas, and Gaia Intelligence – have been accepted into the Space BIC Cyprus business incubation program, supported by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy and the ERATOSTHENES Excellence Centre of the Cyprus University of Technology. The companies will receive €50,000 each, without equity, to develop prototypes, validate technologies, and expand innovative solutions based on space technologies. The selection followed a rigorous evaluation process of 13 applications by independent experts. The decision to support four teams in a single acceleration cycle, rather than two separate cycles, is a strategic move to strengthen the startup culture and competitiveness in the space sector at both local and international levels. This initiative aims to leverage satellite data, space technologies, and geoinformation services. Cyprus’s recent accession to the European Space Agency (ESA) strengthens the country’s role in the European space landscape and creates new opportunities for organizations, researchers, and startups. The Space BIC program aligns with the principles of ESA BIC and is implemented in collaboration with similar centers in other countries to adopt best practices. The CEO of the ERATOSTHENES Excellence Centre emphasized that the program aims to empower startups and entrepreneurs in the space sector, contributing to the development of innovative solutions and services.
