Published February 11, 2026, 12:39

An investigation into alleged irregularities within the Paphos Municipality, initially reported in 2022, has been ongoing for four years. The case began at the Paphos Crime Detection Department and was subsequently referred to the Legal Service for evaluation. In 2023, the Audit Office joined the investigation to conduct specialized audits. In 2024, the case was transferred to the Crime Prevention Department to determine if any criminal offenses exist. On January 9, 2026, the file was sent back to the Legal Service for further review, and instructions are awaited. Simultaneously, the Police are conducting an ex officio investigation against the Mayor of Paphos regarding the alleged assault on his wife, as well as a complaint from a businessman concerning serious offenses. Christodoulos Konsolos, Communication Officer of the Police Headquarters, stated that investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made due to a lack of sufficient evidence so far. Each case has its own investigative team and its own prerequisites for requesting the arrest of a person. The case of the Mayor of Paphos and the investigations into the irregularities in the Municipality remain open, with authorities awaiting results from legal advice and ongoing investigations.
