Tassos Telloglou on Predator: Conviction of Tal Dilian but Final User Remains Unknown

Journalist Tassos Telloglou commented on the recent developments in the Predator surveillance software case, following the initial conviction of Intellexa founder Tal Dilian. Despite the conviction, the final user of the software remains unknown, a critical question occupying public debate. The court focused on the violation of personal data and the software manufacturer, without identifying who used it. According to Telloglou, at least 85 people received the controversial messages. Tal Dilian was the only defendant to appear in court, while two other Greek nationals were absent from the hearings. The Greek government has denied any involvement in the case. Telloglou mentioned that Dilian became active in the field of cyber-surveillance systems after retiring from the Israeli unit 81. The Intellexa company, linked to Dilian, developed the Predator software and operated internationally. Also, companies within the Intellexa group were active in Cyprus, where in 2019 it came under scrutiny due to the so-called 'spy van' in Larnaca. Regarding Predator's technical capabilities, Telloglou noted that it is not among the most advanced surveillance software, but remains a powerful tool. The case continues to evolve and the search for the final user remains a priority.
