Emergency Meeting Held Regarding Foot-and-Mouth Disease

The Minister of Agriculture, Maria Panagiotou, convened an emergency meeting regarding foot-and-mouth disease, with the participation of all relevant stakeholders. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and coordinate further ways to address the potential transmission of the disease from the occupied territories to the free areas. The infection was detected in a cattle unit in Lapathos, in the occupied province of Famagusta, causing concern about the epidemiological situation in Cyprus. The minister and the stakeholders are seeking to take immediate measures to protect livestock production and public health.
