Postponement in Bail Request for German Real Estate Agent in Property Seizure Case

The hearing for the bail request of German real estate agent Eva Isabella Kiunzel, accused of seizing Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories, has been postponed again until March 18, 2026. The accused will remain in custody until then. The postponement is due to the prosecution's unpreparedness to argue on the request, while the defense argues that new data justifies bail. The defense lawyer, Sotiris Argyrou, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the difficulties he faces during meetings with the accused at the Central Prisons, citing delays, mail checks, and limited meeting time. He believes these problems hinder the preparation of the defense. During the session, the President of the Community Council of Agios Ambrosios Kerynia, Pantelis Ttofi, testified that before the Turkish invasion of 1974, all land plots in Agios Ambrosios belonged to Greek Cypriots. He also testified that the plot in question belongs to the Church and has not been sold or permission given for construction. During the examination of the witness, an objection arose from the defense, as the prosecution attempted to ask about the residents of the village after the departure of the Greek Cypriots, which the defense lawyer considered aimed at creating prejudice. The case continues with the examination of prosecution witnesses.
